F3556 Built in 1918, this is one of only two surviving RE.8s in the world. The other example, preserved in the Musée Royal de l'Armée et d'Histoire Militaire, is a heavily modified example with a Hispano-Suiza engine. One of over 3800 built, this example was withdrawn from service in 1920 and donated to the Imperial War Museum the same year - a remarkable 86 years in the same museum! |
