G-BOAG (cn 214) "For the 1st time in history of technology we are going backwards. Years down the line we'll be telling our grandchildren that we used to cross the atlantic in 3 hours and they wont believe us." Quote from Concorde chief pilot Mike Bannister, I was just browsing through my old photos, and this one came up and I shed a tear, that was once a lifetime of flight @ FL580 and 1390mph (and 54 pax only), sadly no more. G-BOAG (cn 214) Just before shutting down her engines at Seattle's Boeing Field and completing her life as an airliner. Captain Mike Bannister waives the Union Jack and Captain Les Brodie waives the Stars and Stripes as Alpha Golf taxies up to the museum ramp. Thousands who want to become a witness of centennial advance of flight knew about this; however, we have to move the clock forward to open another centennial. It was truly a beautiful and most memorable autumn afternoon which I will never forget. |

G-BOAG (cn 214) Captain Mike Bannister proudly waves Union Jack, as sun sets on Concorde... From this moment on, Alpha-Golf will remain in the Museum of Flight. It was a sad but a proud and solemn moment. Sony DSC-F717. |

G-BNLS (cn 24629/841) Departing from Rwy 27R, this 747 climbs into a near perfect blue sky. This aircraft was the first British Airways flight to leave LHR after the last British Airways Concorde flight departed. As Chief pilot Mike Bannister said on arrival at Filton "from today, the world is a bigger place" |

G-BOAF (cn 216) IT'S OVER.....as chief Concorde pilot Mike Bannister said "from today, the world is a bigger place", the last flying icon of British and French design touches down at Filton ending 34 years of Concorde operations. As Concorde is powered by four Rolls-Royce/SNECMA Olympus 593 engines, it's fitting that the Rolls-Royce Defence Aerospace factory clearly stands out in the background. |
