N2801H (cn 501) According to the FAA website, this US vintage glider was built in 1977. The SGS 2-33 designator stands for Schweizer Glider, Sailplane, 2 Seats, Model 33. The first aircraft flew in 1965 and production was halted only in 1981. |

N2450F (cn 002) A one of a kind airplane. Built by modifiying a Schweizer 2-32 sailplane, this was intended as a high-altitude long-endurance UAV. This airframe was flown both manned and unmanned. At one point, this aircraft held 17 FAI Class C1 and C1b, C1c and C1d altitude records (set in 1972), of which 16 still stand. Now on display in the Vintage Flying Museum. |

This photo was taken while on a sightseeing flight onboard TF-FTH (Schweizer 300C helicopter) during the Akureyri Flying Weekend 2006. On the apron and around the hangars are the various aircraft that came for a visit, as well as the aircraft based at the airport. One of the four Piper Cubs which where at the airport (most probably TF-CUP) has just entered the runway and is lining up for takeoff. Akureyri, which is the biggest town in northern Iceland can be seen in the background. [Canon EOS 20D] |
