VH-OQD (cn 026) The Rolls-Royce Trent 900 supplies the moving power for Qantas's A380-842. Each engine produces 70,000lbs of thrust. The fan blade diameter is almost 10ft (3M). Engine length is 17ft 4in. (5.3M). And finally each engine weighs 13,860lbs (6,300Kg). Here we see OQD waiting in the holding area for her return flight back to Sydney as QF12, (22:30) some 7 hours after this shot was taken. |

9V-SKA (cn 003) Delayed by an electrical storm, Singapore Airlines' first A380 departed from Sydney more than 2 hours late. Although the weather over the airfield was dismal, the sun burst through 25 mins after take-off - painting the A380's huge Trent 900 engines a brilliant orange. |

F-WWOW (cn 001) Farnborough International Airshow 2006. The mighty Trent 900 up close - those swept fans at 116" in diameter help produce the 76,000lb of static thrust (per engine!) at takeoff. An awesome machine, born and bred in Derby, England! |
