9V-SKH (cn 021) After emerging from the wall of rain behind, SQ319 from LHR encountered what appeared to be windshear on its approach to runway 20R during a big afternoon thunderstorm. The result was an impressive spool up of the 4 Trent 900s; the pilots decided to abort the approach and bring 9V-SKH for another circuit and a safe landing. |

JA73NE / 3NE (cn 40713/3501) Skymark is preparing the international service that will starts from 2014. They choosed Trent 900 for A380. First service is planed Tokyo NRT-New York. Moreover they will resume wide body service on Japan domestic route by A330-300 with Trent 700 from same year. |

VH-OQA (cn 014) On 4th November 2010, the 1st QANTAS A380 "Nancy Bird Walton" as QF32 had an uncontained engine failure in 1 of its RR Trent 900 engines over Indonesia. It limped back to Singapore, landing safely with significant damage. After nearly 1 1/2 years, the aircraft has been repaired and it is seen on it's first test flight out of Singapore. VH-OQA (cn 014) The 1st visit to Adelaide of the 1st QANTAS A380 "Nancy Bird Walton" landed at 12:30pm, the 27th Sept. The aircraft & crew were carrying out flight trials. Here the giant is taxiing past the crowd of onlookers. On the 4th of Nov 2010, QF32 was to have an uncontained engine failure in 1 of its RR Trent 900 engines over Indonesia. It limped back to Singapore, landing safely with significant damage. It is still undergoing repairs today in Singapore to return it to an airworthy state sometime in March 2012. |

VH-OQJ (cn 062) Getting the opportunity to photograph one of these Trent 900 up close and personal was a real treat. I actually stopped for a minute just to marvel at how artistic this engine really is. From the uniquely shaped fan blades, to the honeycomb webbing surrounding them, and last but not least the pointed spinner cone with the beautiful orangish yellow swirl. Here we see ship QJ on a beautiful winter afternoon, waiting for her return flight home later that evening. Local time 15:42. |
