Airbus A340-313X
In Flight
Thailand, September 22, 2009
Remark
Photographer
HB-JMG (cn 562) LX 180 from Zurich approaching Suvarnabhumi airport after merely 10 hours and 30 minutes in the air. After finally clearing immigration and getting out of the airport, I was just standing there for a moment, enjoying the warm tropical air and watching the thunderstorm that those dark clouds on approach had signalled pass by.

Lockheed C-130A Hercules (L-182)
Mount Hagen - Kagamuga (HGU / AYMH)
Papua New Guinea, March 1975
Remark
Photographer
A97-216 / 216 (cn 182-3216) Rare close-up view of 36 Squadron C-130A A97-216 at Mount Hagen Airport (TPNG) in March 1975. The Herc was to carry a Bell 206B-1 helicopter (A17-021) to Port Moresby, and Laverton Victoria, after completion of Tropical Performance Trials. Locals refused to assist with the loading of the Bell 206B-1 into the C-130 rear cargo door! (Assisting the 'Birth of a Baby Balus' was OK. Putting the 'Balus' back was Not OK!). Low res photo.

Australia - Air Force
Lockheed C-130A Hercules (L-182)
In Flight
Australia - Queensland, January 30, 1975
Remark
Photographer
A97-207 / 07 (cn 182-3207) Rare low res 'Fish-Eye' lens view of the flight deck of 36 Squadron C-130A A97-207, taken over Queensland on a flight to TPNG in 1975. The flight from Laverton to Lae took 6.9 hours. The Herc was carrying a Bell 206B-1 helicopter (A17-021) to TPNG for Tropical Performance Trials. The RAAF acquired its First C-130 (A97-205) in Dec 1958, and marked the 50th Anniversary in Dec 2008. Apologies for the low quality of this 1975 photo.

Remark
Photographer
A97-211 / 11 (cn 182-3211) 36 Sqn C-130A A97-211 does a flypast during her flying display, in hazy skies at the Laverton Airshow in April 1975. I had just returned home after two months in the Territory of Papua and New Guinea (TPNG), just before Independence. I flew in C-130A A97-207 from Laverton to Lae on 30Jan1975, and from Port Moresby to Laverton in A97-216 on 27Mar1975. The Task was ARDU TS 1633 - Bell 206B-1 Tropical Performance Trials - conducted from Lae and Mount Hagen. The RAAF marked 50 years of C-130 ops in Dec 2008. Low res photo.
