5B-DBY (cn 29099/2982) On short finals runway 22 coming in from Prague via Athens. Sadly crashed two days later operating same flight. Soon after this landing departed to Bucharest. On the 13th, operated the morming flight to Luton and evening flight to Heathrow arriving back home in the early morning of the 14th. Later on, at 09:00 GMT+2 departed for the last time to operate the flight HCY522. |

5B-DBY (cn 29099/2982) Last May 28th during my stopover at London Heathrow this aircraft caught my eye. Sadly, 2.5 months later, on August 14th, Helios Flight 522 with 115 passengers and six crew enroute from Larnaca, Cyprus, to Athens, crashed about 12 noon Sunday (0900 GMT), near the coastal town of Grammatikos, about 40 km (25 miles) north of Athens and near the historic town of Marathon, killing all 121 people on board. My sympathy to the passengers, crew and their families. |

5B-DBY (cn 29099/2982) Crashed into Varnava Mt. near Grammatikos city (Greece) while approaching Athens Int. Airport on 14.08.2005. The plane, Helios Flight ZU522 with 115 passengers and 6 crew, was en route from Larnaca, Cyprus, to Prague, Czech Republic, with stop at ATH. The plane was escorted by two F-16's until it struck the mountain. This plane (5B-DBY) flew to PRG/LKPR regulary four times a week. RIP |

The pilots of the Helios Airways Boeing 737 had reported an air conditioning problem. The plane was supposed to continue to Prague, Czech Republic, after landing in Athens. The jet crashed near the coastal town of Grammatikos. |
