The B-52H-135-BW Stratofortress is assigned to 93rd Bomb Squadron "Indian Outlaws" / 917th Wing Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) from Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. The 917th's mission is to train pilots and crews to fly the A-10 Thunderbolt IIs and B-52H Stratofortress and perform strategic heavy bombardment and maritime operations with the B-52s. |

Photographed as late in the day as possible, whilst dodging the police/stewards trying to clear the site, in order to minimise the number of people/legs in the shot. |

60-0003 (cn 464368) A nose detail shot of Sheer Destruction/Mohawk ValleyII, the first B-52H delivered to the 416th Bombardment Wing. The first B-52 for this unit was a "G" model accepted in 1960 and was named Mohawk Valley (which by coincidence was also on the ramp that day, having just arrived from the 93rd BW at Castle, CA to take its place at Griffiss as a monument). Mohawk Valley II has previously served with the 5th BW at Minot AFB, ND. |

A short time later it was taking on fuel from a Mildenhall-launched KC-135R prior to returning across the pond to Barksdale AFB. Always an impressive sight at Leuchars Airshow. |
