USA - Air Force
Northrop Grumman B-2A Spirit
Dayton - Wright-Patterson AFB (Wright AFB) (DWF) (closed)
USA - Ohio, August 18, 2014
Remark
Photographer
82-1070 / WM This is not the original 82-1070 'Spirit of Ohio', rather one of two additional aircraft Northrop constructed without engines or instruments for fatigue testing. This example was used for stress testing on the airframe (it was discovered that the wings could withstand 161% of the design specs stress load before cracking) before being retired to the National Museum of the USAF for display.

USA - Air Force
Northrop Grumman B-2A Spirit (mockup)
Dayton - Wright-Patterson AFB (Wright AFB) (DWF) (closed)
USA - Ohio, December 5, 2009
Remark
Photographer
82-1070 / WM National Museum of the US Air Force. This was the second non-flying B-2 airframe used for fatigue testing, but it is painted as 82-1070 ('Spirit of Ohio'). In 1996 the real Spirit of Ohio underwent more than 1,000 hours of extreme temperature testing. To signify these tests, the technicians created the Fire & Ice artwork on the nose landing gear panel and signed it. This panel was presented to the museum in 1999 and was intalled on the museum's B-2. [Canon EOS 40D, EF 24-105mm f/4.0 L IS USM lens]

Remark
Photographer
82-1070 / WM Noticeable difference between the profile of the wing leading edge and that of the "beak". (Not the real 82-1070 but a structural fatigue test airframe.)
