87-0023 (cn 382-5091) Combat Talon II from 7th Special Operations Squadron (7th SOS) "Aircommandos" / 352nd Special Operations Group from homebase RAF Mildenhall departing from Fairford after RIAT 2009. The 7th SOS began operating the MC-130 in 1977. An updated Combat Talon II was developed in the 1980s from the C-130H variant of the Hercules and went into service in the 1990s. With MC-130Hs the 7th SOS supported Coalition forces in Southwest Asia from January–March 1991 and later resupplied Kurds in Northern Iraq. |
