9H-UMD (cn 0031-T600N-051) Maj. Alex Dalli performed a textbook perfect precautionary landing with this Island Microlight Club aircraft on a disused unsurfaced road between Zonqor point and Xghajra (Zabbar) not far from Marsascala Bay, as he noticed that the four-stroke single engine was not working to his satisfaction. Maj. Dalli together with Larry Scerri (former RAF engineer) took off from Rwy 06 at about 17:00LT, and few minutes later approx. 17:15LT they decided to land here as it was safer than trying to make it back to Malta Intl Airport. |

9H-UMD A spectacular beauty of Gnejna Bay which is the third of the three bays located one next to the other on the south-western side of Malta. As with the other two bays, this one is located at the bottom of a valley. This valley is quite lush and many fruit trees grow in the rich moist soil. In the deep blue waters near the beach one can see the wreckage of an aircraft as it is visible from air during good weather conditions! |
