Tupolev Tu-114
Monino
Russia, May 26, 2012
Remark
Photographer
CCCP-L5611 (cn 5611) Powerful NK-12 engines could carry a giant Tu-114 with speed up to 800 km/h, not slower than modern jetliners. Now starlings and sparrows make their nests under access panels.

CCCP-L5611 (cn 5611) A detailed view of captain's and central panels of Tu-114 cockpit. Considering the age of the airplane its condition is very nice. Aviarestorers are doing their best to maintain and improve airplane state. I can only imagine what a great experience it was to fly this machine across the Atlantic or over all Asia to Japan.

Remark
Photographer
CCCP-L5611 (cn 5611) Designed on basis of the Tu-95 bomber. Only 33 of this aircraft were built. This first Tu-114 was named "Rossia" and was never in Aeroflot. Unofficially the Tu-114s was named "Dragon (Zmei Gorynych)", "Power-Saw Bench (Pilorama)" and "Devil-Bullock-Cart (Schaitan-Arba)". This aircraft used Soviet premier Nikita Khruschev flew non-stop from Moscow to New York in september 1959. Those four NK-12 contraprops are enormous! This Tu-114 is stored in Monino since 1972.

CCCP-L5611 (cn 5611) To end the 50 years of 20 century, it's just fantastic aircraft: two decks, sleeping compartment, lounge-bar, and comfort economy class can only envy.
