D-FJAK / 12 (cn 0470107) This Yak was assembled at Strela factory in Orenburg in 1995 as the 7th built example in co-operation between the Yakovlev factory, Strela and Flight Magic, Santa Monica, California. Powered is by Allison V-1710 engine and first owner was Gunnel Aviation in USA. Then changed in USA Ladora Int. Ltd, B. N. Hisey, and Reno racer Bob Hannah, worn registration N551BH. In 2002 was bought by Meier Motors from Freiburg in Germany. Painting is very similar with the red-nose Yak-3 (but in original "red 12") piloted by Lt. Saveliy V. D-FJAK / 100 (cn 0470107) Pictured taking part in the Soviet flying display for Flying Legends 2010. These things are going blinkin fast so getting the settings right, filling the frame, panning and keeping the camera level sure is challenging but rewarding when it comes off! |

D-FJAK (cn 0470107) Pictured in the photo line up before the actual flying display started at Flying Legends 2010. This was one of the most important and pivotal fighters of WWII, a fact often neglected in Western Europe. |
