G-BEDF (cn 8693) A grey British summer's day and the sad sight of a grounded Sally B with a missing No. 1 engine and propellor. Despite it being newly overhauled, the engine suffered a crankshaft bearing failure. To date this has prevented the aircraft participating in the 2009 airshow season. Let us hope they manage to overcome these problems soon and we can enjoy her back in the air. |

Sold to Institut Geographique National of France as F-BGSR, later sold to USA as N17TE and then to Britain as G-BEDF. Presently flies by B-17 Preservation Ltd of Duxford in marking of legendary B-17F-10-BO "Memphis Belle" 41-24485, which was first B-17 to complete 25 combat missions over Europe, operated by 324th BS / 91st Bombardment Group (Heavy) from RAF Bassingbourn. |
