Remark

G-GLAD The restoration of The Fighter Collection's Gladiator is progressing well. Now fitted with her 830hp Bristol Mercury radial engine, recently-fitted upper and lower wings and cockpit glass. She is expected to be flying by the end of the 2006 airshow season. This could be the last chance to see the intricate metal lattice-work for a very long time.

Untitled
Gloster Gladiator Mk2
Duxford (EGSU)
UK - England, January 14, 2005
Remark
Photographer
G-GLAD Production problems with the famous Rolls-Royce Merlin engines caused supply problems for Spitfires and Hurricanes in 1938-39. In the interim, the RAF ordered 300 Gladiators including this one. She served initially with No. 141 (Fighter) Sqn before later being retired to meteorological duties. One of the very last biplanes to see active combat in the world, she's being restored to airworthy condition. Restoration is coming along nicely, with the wings (bottom-right) almost ready to go on.

Gloster Gladiator Mk2
Duxford (EGSU)
UK - England, February 14, 2004
Remark
Photographer
G-GLAD Built in 1939, she saw service with Grangemouth's No.141 (Fighter) Squadron before going into storage at Hucclecote then Hamble. In 1951, an ex Fleet Air Arm pilot purchased her and flew a Gladiator, based at Southampton Airport, in air displays. She was acquired by The Fighter Collection in 1994, and the immaculate condition here is the result of ten years of hard work.
