N565 (cn 14955/26400) Arr. from Iran on 4 May 1979, with another DC-3 N535M. On take-off from Iran, both a/c were fired at with small arms and N565 had two bullet holes on the port side. The co-pilot was hit in the head while looking out of the window and was killed. Totally destroyed after continuously being set on fire for practice by International Fire & Safety School (Malta). It is with sadness that one realises that, with a little effort, attempts could have been made to preserve part of it. * Appearing for the 1st time. |
