N568FE (cn 47827/294) Up close and personal with this great looking DC-10. Nice detail; they taped over the reg on the nosewheel door. Like we can no longer find the reg now ;) |

N568FE (cn 47827/294) This DC-10 belongs to the reserve fleet of FedEx. At Mojave they were very busy with this aircraft, probably FedEx will convert it to a freither soon. This aircraft was also involved in an accident at Tahiti where it overran the runway and it got with the nose gear in a lagoon. Also notice how the registration is written on the nose wheel door. N568FE (cn 47827/294) Ex N132AA, this airliner has a special story, being one of the very few who survived a full bath in salted water, after ending her landing on runway 04 in the lagoon of Tahiti, on december 23, 2000. With many other DC-10 and A310, she is now part of the FedEx "reserve fleet", awaiting cargo conversion in the desert. Adhesive tape is widely used in MHV, even to apply a new registration ! |
