Untitled
Lockheed L-1649A Starliner
Auburn/Lewiston Municipal (LEW / KLEW)
USA - Maine, May 10, 2010
Remark
Photographer
N7316C (cn 1018) Lufthansa is undertaking the mother of all aircraft restorations in a hangar at Auburn-Lewiston Airport. Maurice Roundy's former Starliner has been stripped down to bare bones, with inspection and repair currently underway. No defect is too small to repair and the final product will be as close to the way she came out of the factory in 1957 as humanly possible. The first post restoration flight is tentatively scheduled for late 2011.

N7316C (cn 1018) I finally managed to catch "Jason's Star" (N7316C) and "Brian's Star (N8083H) sitting under the crisp Maine sunshine on this early April morning. What graceful and unique lines these wonderful propliners have. Fingers crossed that they will be gracing the US airshow skies soon.
