N8911E (cn 45825/67) (First delivered to Eastern Airlines on Nov 1966) This was the first time for me to travel with Baby Nine, which enabled me to complete the experiences on all DC-9/MD-80/-90/B717 series. Since the Baby Nine does not have leading edge flaps, the approaching speed /pitch was different from other types, which reminds me DC-8. This shot was taken shortly after landing at Detroit after 23 min flight from Cleveland as NW1833. Nothing is more exciting than traveling with the jetliners being older than my age. |

N8911E / 9152 (cn 45825/67) This is what's called a "Baby Nine" - the -14 series is the shortest DC9. This one was delivered 24 Nov 1966 to Eastern, then flew for Republic in 1979 until they merged with Northwest in 1986. This is flight 1952 to Saginaw, MI - only 100 miles away! UPDATE: this aircraft was retired 14 Aug 2004, stored at Marana, AZ. |
