NX622 / JO-D The amazing cockpit of this old classic. The legless dummy pilot looks more effective from the exterior! Thanks to the staff for the access to the aircraft. Much appreciated.

Avro 683 Lancaster B7
Off-Airport - Bull Creek
Australia - Western Australia, April 12, 2008
Remark
Photographer
NX622 Inside our 'Lanc' looking forward, from the main door. The tracks heading aft hold the .50 cal ammo for the rear turret, with the magazines mounted at the aft end of the bomb bay. The hydraulic oil reservoir to the left is for the Martin mid upper turret, normally located directly above the bomb bay, with the rear gunners heating line running down the right hand side. The drum in the centre houses the ASV radar scanner (a maritime search version of the H2S radar). The round windows look into the bomb bay.

Remark
Photographer
NX622 Inside the nose of our 'Lanc'. Clockwise from left the major items are the bombsight computer, the grey box above is the F24 camera controller, the two magazines for the twin .303 guns hang down from the nose turret above, the escape hatch can be seen below, the MK XIV bombsight in the centre of the nose blister and then finally across to the stick bombing timing unit. Not the place for the feint hearted in a war! Thanks to Paul Markman for his editing help.

Australia - Western Australia, September 14, 2004
Remark
Photographer
NX622 / JO-D The only Mk VII preserved in Australia, at the Aviation Heritage Museum, Bull Creek. This aircraft was formerly with the French Navy, serialled WU-16, and was donated to Australia in 1962. It was stored in the open near the domestic terminal at Perth Airport, until 1979 when it was moved to a purpose-built building at Bull Creek. It is painted to represent JO-D of 463 Squadron, RAAF, which was formed and based in the UK. The real JO-D completed 93 raids. (Canon EOS-300D)
