SP-LBG (cn 3344942) On 9 May 1987 this Il-62 crashed near Warsaw-Okecie Airport as it attempted to return for a landing following an engine failure which started a fire and severed the elevator controls. Sadly all 183 persons on board were killed, making this Poland's worst ever air disaster.

SP-LBG (cn 3344942) This was a short-lived Il-62. Manufactured in 1983 and crashed after take off near Warsaw - Okecie May 9, 1987, after two engines caught fire. All 183 occupants were killed. It was the worst tragedy in polish aviation so far. The name of the aircraft was "Kosciuszko".

SP-LBG (cn 3344942) "Tadeusz Kosciuszko". LO282 pushing back from stand F15 for Warsaw. Less than one month later this aircraft was W/O attempting an emergency landing at WAW returning after an engine disintegration on a WAW-JFK flight (engine blew about 20 mins after TO and then flew about 30 mins return crashing just 5 kms from the apt, about 55 mins after take off) on May 9, 1987 killing 183 souls. RIP. (DD LOT 10/83)
