TA-05 (cn 19965) Front view of this Douglas C-47, tipe LC-47A called ''El montañes''. In 1964 it was modified for Antartic flights. It recieved the nose of the T-31 wich was also extended to introduce a much better radar and the tail of T-21 which included the turbine of Morane Saulnier, Marbore IV. Due to this they had to make a hole and modified some pieces. In December 1965 this plane made the first Trasnpolar fight for the Argentina Air Force. To do this, additional fuel and oil tanks where introduced. Also they put a

TA-05 (cn 19965) Former Compañía Argentina de Navegación Dodero LV-ABF, registered in 1946 (previously USAF 43-15499 and NC65283). She also wore the AF reg. T-89 and T-05. On 04. November 1965 this a/c reached the South Pole, escorted by two De Havilland DHC-02 Beaver (reg. P-05 & P-06). She flew more than 200 hrs. in Antarctica altogether. At a certain time she was fitted with a 880 lbf thrust Marbore turbojet engine to improve her takeoff performances on icy/snowy terrain. Since 1970 at the National Museum of Aviation.
