VH-KTH / ZR-J (cn 15133 / AK752) This photo shows Col Pay taxying his first P-40 at Richmond in 1991. This Kittyhawk was ordered for the RAF (as AK752) in May 1940, but diverted to RCAF Canada on 09Oct1941. The colour scheme is that of 132 Sqn RCAF, which served in defence of West coast Canada from April 1942 to Sep 1944 (disbanding at Vancouver Island). She was re-serialled as 1028 and transferred to 133 Sqn (Code FN-H) [underlined]. She served at Sea Island/ Patricia Bay in 1944/45 and was SOC 16Aug1946, at RCAF Stn Vulcan Alberta. |

VH-KTH / ZR-J (cn AK752 / 15133) This rear view shows Col Pay's first P-40 on static display at Richmond in 1991. She was SOC on 16Aug1946, at RCAF Stn Vulcan Alberta, Canada. She was bought, stripped and buried by a local farmer in 1953. Recovered by John R. Paul of Alamo Calif in 1975 and Reg N96045. Owned by him till 1987 (except in 1976- to Steve Seghetti of Vacaville Calif.) Col Pay bought her in 1987, restored in 1989 as VH-KTH. Col sold her on 01Sep94 to James M. Smith of Fortine MT USA, Reg as N440PE and flown as USAAC/AVG 15133. |

VH-KTH / ZR-J (cn AK752) This photo (along with others) was uploaded as a tribute to the late Col Pay, who died in an aircraft accident at Lake Liddell, near Muswellbrook NSW on 07Dec 2007. Condolences are extended to his family and friends. This photo shows Col taxying his Kittyhawk (with a Marshaller 'Riding Shotgun') at the RAAF 70th Anniversary Airshow at Richmond in 1991. Another pilot was flying his Mustang VH-AUB that day. Both aircraft were flown in superb handling displays during the Airshow. |
