VH-RFU (cn 56296) Heading home, somewhere in southern New South Wales. You can make out a cloud front ahead near the Victorian border. The bright yellow crop is canola, a lot of which has been planted this year. |

VH-RFU (cn 56296) Goodbye Scone after an all-too-brief visit. It's a good thing that fog in the distance didn't come further up the valley. |

VH-RFU (cn 56296) Sunrise at the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's Auster Rally at Middlebrook Station, near Scone. The eagle-eyed will spot the Whale at the end of the line. This was traditional under-wing camping at its best! |

VH-RFU (cn 56296) On the way from Penfield to Bendigo. Phil Vabre puts the Whale in a couple of steep turns. What a great day - spotting in Tullamarine in the morning, shooting GA planes in Bendigo in the afternoon. A bit of driving, a bit of flying, and lots of great memories and photos. Many thanks, Phil! |

VH-RFU (cn 56296) There was still a lot of dust in the air when we arrived at Broken Hill for the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's Auster Rally. Here we're looking east. Earlier in the week huge dust storms originating in the desert to the north west had blotted out Broken Hill and had even badly affected Sydney, 600 miles to the east. |

VH-RFU (cn 56296) At the Avalon Airshow 2009, Trade Day Three. This aircraft, affectionately called 'The Whale', belongs to Phil Vabre, an Airliners.net photographer. While other A.net photographers were busy taking pictures and socialising, Phil, who is also an air traffic controller, spent most of his time working in the control tower. He was one of those people behind the scenes who made things at the airshow happen, and I would like to thank him for that |

VH-RFU (cn 56296) Avalon is coming alive for the Australian International Airshow in this shot looking south towards Corio Bay. All of the white buildings you can see are actually tents erected for the airshow. Normally the place is just a paddock - compare with other photos in the db. If you look closely, you can see a Jetstar A320 on the RPT apron, a B744 undergoing maintenance on the heavy jet apron, and an RAAF AP-3C Orion and C-130J discharging cargo alongside. |

VH-RFU (cn 56296) Finally a shot of my own aircraft! My partner is arriving home in 'The Whale' after she was away 3 months for maintenance. You can clearly see the characteristic 'bump' of the C175 at the front of the cowling, caused by the gearbox of the Continental GO-300. |
