VH-RTW / WG424 (cn C1/0498) One of the trio of De Havilland Chipmunks that form the Chippettes. At the Barossa Air Show 2011, three chipmunks performed a formation flying routine for the spectators, before Jim Whalley peeled off to return to RAAF base Edinburgh to pilot the Marchetti S211, also for the air show. |

VH-RTW / WG424 (cn C1/0498) As part of the Barossa Air Show 2011, The Chipettes (3 De Havilland Chipmunk Trainers) performed formation flying for the spectators at the event on the day. Jim Whalley (VH-DHU) then broke off to return to RAAF Base Edinburgh. Here he swapped aircraft & returned to the Air Show for another aerial performance in the Ex-Singaporean Air Force, Jet trainer, the Marchetti S211 (VH-CBL) |

VH-RTW / WG424 (cn C1/0498) This Chippie is ex RAF Rhodesian Air Training Group which means that it did not serve in the UK but was supplied new to Rhodesia with 69 others. However it appears never to have been assembled in Rhodesia as it was sold with nil hours flown via DH South Africa to Australia. One of the original three Chipmunks acquired by the Royal Victorian Aero Club and registered VH-RVZ in September 1954. Sold in 1965 and became VH-RTW. (Thanks Rod and Eddie) |
