Vickers Valiant BK1
Marham (King's Lynn -) (KNF / EGYM)
UK - England, April 1977
Remark
Photographer
XD818 The only remaining full example of a Valiant anywhere on the planet, XD818 was the actual aircraft that dropped Britain's first hydrogen bomb. It was later moved to the RAF Museum at Hendon and now resides in the new Cold War museum at Cosford, restored to its original anti-flash white colour scheme (but completely impossible to photograph)

Vickers Valiant BK1
Cosford (EGWC)
UK - England, April 29, 2006
Remark
Photographer
XD818 The last surviving Valiant was moved from London late in 2005 to Cosford. Here she waits outside for her turn to enter the Cold War building. This aircraft is a significant piece of British history as it was the aircraft which dropped Britain's first hydrogen bomb (or was it really a fission bomb? There is some controversy!). The names of the crew on that day are painted near the entry hatch.

Vickers Valiant BK1
Hendon (closed)
UK - England, October 25, 2003
Remark
Photographer
XD818 The only remaining Valiant aircraft in the world. This was the actual aircraft used to drop Britain's first thermonuclear bomb ("H-bomb") near Malden Island in Kiribati (near Christmas Island) on 15-May-1957. It is most unfortunate that she is hemmed into this corner - this (poor) angle is the only possible photo position :-(
