XR371 (cn SH1825) The Belfast is a long-range, strategic transport aircraft, designed in February 1959. Its first flight was in January 1964. Only ten of the originally ordered thirty Belfasts were built, all for the RAF. It's a huge aircraft at 41m long with a wing span of 48m, weighing 56 tons empty and more than double that fully loaded. It could carry 150 fully-equipped troops or a Chieftain tank or two Wessex helicopters. On display in the Cold War hangar at the RAF Museum, Cosford (Canon 50D + Sigma 10-20 EX DC HSM) |

XR371 (cn SH1825) Resembling a C-130 on steroids, the Belfast is an impressive turboprop. 10 were built for the RAF for long range heavylifting and this one, named 'Enceladus' is preserved at the Royal Air Force Museum. |

XR371 (cn SH1825) This aircraft is part of the RAF museum display at Cosford. It has recently been re-painted. The late afternoon winter sun has made every rivet appear to stand out. |
