XX284 / CA (cn 110/312109) A Hawk from 100 Sqn at RAF Leeming over in Yorkshire is seen here beginning its take-off roll down Runway 19 at Valley. 100 Sqn provides the RAF with high speed targets and threat simulation, as well as fast jet navigator training. Its Hawks are maintained at Valley by Babcocks under sub-contract with BAE Systems, so they are a common sight on the island. (400ASA, 250mm focal length; 640th at f9; 400D & Sigma 80-400 IS) |

Two of the Leeming-based squadron Hawks played their primary role as notional enemy aircraft to be seen off by Tornadoes. Aside from target facilities, the squadron also provides fast jet navigator training. (400D, anti-shake Sigma 80-400 & fluid-head tripod) |
