A84-238 (cn 38) (Del 11/56) mounted on poles alongside the Cunningham Highway at Willowbank in South East Queensland (5mins from RAAF Amberley). Another Canberra (A84-248) lies in a paddock about 20 metres away. This Canberra saw service in Vietnam while flying with 2SQN as part of the USAF 35th Tactical Fighter Wing. The aircraft was sold to its current owners, the Willowbank Caravan Park, in June 1986. The aircraft is also home to hundreds of birds, some of which you can see departing on a mission! |

C-122 (cn 191-699) The Argentine Air Force incorporated 28 surplus Sabres in the 1960’s. Based in the 4th Air Brigade in Mendoza, they remained in active duty until 1986. Argentine Sabres saw action in helping to foil an April 1962 coup attempt against the established government. The FAA Sabres attacked the Navy base at Punta Indio and destroyed a Navy C-54 on the ground, helping to quench the coup. The F-86F was fitted with a 10,000 lbf (44 kN) thrust J47-27 engine. |
