G-AKVF (cn 114) One of two of these very rare aeroplanes present at the Great Vintage Flying Weekend, this one is owned by Brian Metters of nearby Marlborough. Chrislea completed 21 Aces of various versions between 1948 and 1952 at its factory in Exeter – this one dates from 1948. They could carry four passengers and this version was powered by a 145hp De Havilland Gipsy Major. Four remain on the British register. Until 2000, this one was on the Pakistani register as AP-ADT. G-PBYY (cn 2077) Enstrom is unique in making turbo-charged piston-engined helicopters and has done so since the seventies, but the 280FX is the only one still in production. The turbocharger maintains engine output at altitudes up to 12,000ft, which is useful for operations in mountainous terrain. This one is owned by Hogan Holdings of Bangor. It was built in 1997 and previously registered G-BXKV. (400D, Sigma 80-400 anti-shake & fluid-head tripod) |
