Croatia - Air Force
Antonov (PZL-Mielec) An-2R
Zagreb - Pleso (ZAG / LDZA)
Croatia, February 1993
Remark
Photographer
(cn 1G135-43) Early in the Balkan War Croatia impressed all kinds of aircraft into its fledgling air arm without painting any ID on the aircraft. Vaguely one can read HT, which would make this the former YU-BHT. Some of the An-2s were used on bomber missions with the crew pushing barrels with explosives out of the door. One had been shot down on just such a mission just a few months before I took this photograph.

Croatia - Air Force
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21bis
Zagreb - Pleso (ZAG / LDZA)
Croatia, February 1993
Remark
Photographer
102 (cn 75092741) In May 1992 the pilot of this MiG-21bis in the service of the Yugoslav air force defected to his native Croatia, this being the second MiG to be acquired this way. Another was to follow in the same month. The precious aircraft was zealously guarded and flown just occasionally. Its former ID was 17235.
