Dan-Air London
Douglas C-47B Dakota 4 (DC-3)
Lasham (EGHL)
UK - England, January 1985
Remark
Photographer
G-AMSU (cn 26717/15272) Although reportedly some parts of the real G-AMSU were used in the preparation of this Dak for display, it was really G-AMPP which served Dan-Air between 1961 and 1971 after an RAF career. The aircraft was removed to France in 1991 and was used for the making of a film in Berlin in 2005 about the Airlift, to represent crashed Dakota KN491, which went down on 24.1.49 in East Germany while approaching Lübeck-Blankensee

British Air Ferries - BAF
Vickers 802 Viscount
Jersey (- States) (JER / EGJJ)
Jersey, April 1987
Remark
Photographer
G-AOHM (cn 162) Screaming Darts were very much a feature of Jersey till the 1990s. Here, Hotel Mike shows off BAF's third livery applied to the Viscount fleet, complete with the revised titling. After being operated in the red Parcelforce colours, the aircraft became 3D-OHM in 8.99 but aborted t/o and veered off the runway at N'djamena, Chad on 24.7.01. Despite being written off, attempts were made to restore her for flight - until a soldier sleeping under the wing accidentally fired his gun and punctured a fuel tank

Oasis Oil (British Air Ferries - BAF)
Vickers 802 Viscount
Southend - Rochford (SEN / EGMC)
UK - England, February 1981
Remark
Photographer
G-AOHV (cn 170) Just a month after acquisition from BA, this Viscount was contracted out to Oasis Oil (note Libyan flag on rear fuselage). The basic scheme is the very early version used by BAF complete with the yellow cockpit coaming which didn't last long at all. Last used in the UK as G-OPFI by Parcelforce, she was exported to Africa in 8.99 as 3D-PFI, changing hands under the marks 5V-TTP, TU-VAB, back to 3D-PFI and ending up as 9Q-COD in 7.07. Stored at Lubumbashi, Congo, in potentially flyable condition

Air Algerie (British Air Ferries - BAF)
Vickers 806 Viscount
Southend - Rochford (SEN / EGMC)
UK - England, June 1981
Remark
Photographer
G-AOYS (cn 267) Almost immediately after being taken over from BA, BAF leased Yankee Sierra out to Algeria for four months resulting in this pleasing hybrid livery

Untitled
Beagle B-121 Pup 150
Southend - Rochford (SEN / EGMC)
UK - England, 1978
Remark
Photographer
G-AWRW (cn B121-027) A church graveyard is a rather incongruous place to crash your Pup. Behind is St Laurence & All Saints Church in Eastwoodbury Lane which has often been an issue in plans to extend Southend's runway 06, as it is right on the perimeter by the flightpath
