This jet was also a recent acquisition from the 49th TFW at Holloman AFB, NM. |

161433 / AG-206 (cn 443/KB-7) The high-water mark of the Tomcat's popularity may have occurred around the time this photo was taken; Top Gun was still in theaters and the plane generally commanded respect based on appearance and not too shabby performance. It's still pretty early on Sunday morning at the NAS Atlanta air show and this clean and colorful VF-142 Ghostrider (NAS Oceana, VA) 'cat is already attracting more than its share of attention. |

3855 (cn 4763) A very clean- probably freshly painted- Luftwaffe Phantom rumbles past the Dobbins observation deck on its way to the start of a long cross-country flight to Holloman AFB, NM. The sun and sand will be a nice change from the weather experienced at its home base (Rheine-Hopsten, unit: JBG-36). The U.S. Air Force Reserve C-5 and C-141 loadmaster trainers are visible in the background as is the wing of a parked Galaxy on the far left. |

62-5866 (cn 25B) The low morning sun graces this Mohawk as it leaves the NAS Atlanta transit line. The color scheme is the regulation Army arctic/desert/jungle finish though this was not often seen on Mohawks. However, the markings are even more unusual as it was one of a handful assigned to the U.S. Naval Test Pilots School at Patuxent River, MD. This was one of two Mohawks leaving that day to complete their one-way trip to the "boneyard" at D-M, as all OV-1A's were then being phased out. |

3784 (cn 4559) Exotic visitors occupy the Dobbins transit line: Bundesluftwaffe Phantoms!! They stopped on their way for some training at Holloman AFB, NM, and their supporting Transall C-160 may be seen in the upper background (ironically nearly aligned with on of the based 700th Airlift Sqn. C-130H's). Some crew members are seen walking out to their aircraft as departure preparations begin. |
