73-0087 (cn 26/A021) The 1988 Robins AFB air show was memorable for the fact that the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center left a lot of their "projects" on display in the outdoor maintenance area, among them this Eagle. Actually the third production F-15, it was assigned to the 159th Tactical Fighter Wing, Louisiana Air Guard, at Alvin Callender Field, New Orleans. Other points of interest are the AC-130 on the right, the Hawaiian Air Guard F-15 behind, and a couple of C-141's on the left. See photo #2000334 for another F-15. |

70-0991 / MI (cn D-137) The verdant hills near Birmingham airport supply an appropriate background for this A-7D (the USAF apparently never officially adopted the Corsair II name) dressed in a Europe 1 variation. Participating in the 1987 static display, it had come from the Michigan Air Guard's 107th Tactical Fighter Sqn., 127th TFW at Selfridge ANG Base, MI. Though not distinctively marked, this aircraft was evidently flown here by the wing commander, Brig. Gen. H.W. Rudolph, as displayed on his personalized travel pod. |

156856 / AF-506 (cn E-123) Somewhat scruffy in its TPS finish, Salty Dog 506 rests on the VA-205 Green Falcons line during a hot summer afternoon. The new tail markings (though not all that visible) represent a departure from the original A-7E marking of the State of Georgia figure; now it bears an insignia based on the local NFL Atlanta Falcons team (the word "Falcons" is barely visible running vertically to the right of the logo). This also carried over to the later Intruders all the way to unit disestablishment in 1994. |
