162406 / MA-01 (cn 0236/A187) For some time in the late 1990's, Marine Air Reserve Fighting 112 Cowboys (NAS/JRB Carswell, TX) applied squadron markings in color to their aircraft. This example is the squadron commmander's plane at NAS Atlanta for a gas 'n' go; the one in the background is also so marked. |

161882 / RM-01 (cn P-105) Veteran's Day in the US, and a "veteran" Prowler is seen on the NAS Atlanta transit line bearing symbols of combat action. The five "missile" markers apparently attest to attacks on Surface to Air Missile sites in Iraq (either Southern Watch or the December 1998 Desert Strike campaign) because, aside from its main mission of electronic jamming, the Prowler can also launch the HARM missile. The unit was VMAQ-4 Seahawks (MCAS Cherry Point, NC). |

164122 / KD-14 (cn T018) Birds of a feather flocking together... Well, not quite, as the line up pictured includes a two-seat TAV-8B and a couple of single-seaters, all in for fuel at the NAS Atlanta t-line. The single seaters are 163689 and 163676 respectively and all are from VMAT-203 Hawks, the replacement training unit for Harrier pilots at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. |

83-0488 (cn 382-5014) The Herks from the 139th Airlift Sqn., 109th AW (New York Air Guard) at Schenectady (informally known as the Raven Gang) were regular visitors to little Oneida County Airport before it closed in Jan. 2007. One of 4 "wheeled" C-130's (the other 4 are equipped with ski's!) delivered to the unit in 1984, the City of Saratoga Springs approaches the runway in waning sunlight. |

163031 / CY-05 (cn MP-124) Another Prowler from VMAQ-2 (MCAS Cherry Point, NC) from the interim period in late 1993 when they gave up the Playboy name and image (undoubtedly a belated casualty to the Tailhook scandal) and assumed the new identity of the Carolina Panthers. This example carries a question mark on the rudder; a barely visible bow tie is at the bottom of the mark in place of the period along with a tiny pair of rabbit ears along the top of the mark (not visible) in obvious reference to the lamented Playboy identity. |
