Untitled
Douglas C-117D (DC-3S)
Fort Myers - Buckingham Field (Lehigh Acres) (FL59)
USA - Florida, October 10, 1980
Remark
Photographer
N837M / 6C039 (cn 43378) One of two aircraft marked N837M on the airfield at the same time! The other was TC-47H c/n 12524. This one was officially registered as N886M at the time (ex N848M ntu), but was apparently painted in error. It eventually became HI-477CA with Taino - last noted derelict at San Juan (TJIG) in 2003. Delivered as US Navy R4D-8 BuNo 17119 c/n 12058, but rebuilt as C-117D c/n 43378 in 1952. Eventually based at NAS Pensacola, coded F-621, before ending up in storage at MASDC in 1976. Still carries MASDC inventory code on the nose.
