USA - Air Force
Lockheed C-5B Galaxy (L-500)
Marietta - Dobbins ARB (Atlanta NAS) (MGE / KMGE)
USA - Georgia, October 1988
Remark
Photographer
87-0038 A familiar sight (but nevertheless always welcome!) of a factory fresh C-5B on approach to Dobbins RWY 29 near the conclusion of a pre-delivery test flight. Ship 124 almost makes the Europe 1 scheme look handsome in good afternoon light.

General Dynamics F-111D Aardvark
Marietta - Dobbins ARB (Atlanta NAS) (MGE / KMGE)
USA - Georgia, February 10, 1989
Remark
Photographer
68-0159 / CC Another sunny Friday afternoon at Dobbins, and another visitor (probably RON- remain overnight) from the 27th TFW at Cannon AFB, NM. This Aardvark bears the insignia of the 522nd TFS "Fireballers" and the corresponding red tail stripe. The regular appearances of these intriguing planes at Dobbins was always a pleasure.

USA - Air Force
McDonnell Douglas F-15A Eagle
Marietta - Dobbins ARB (Atlanta NAS) (MGE / KMGE)
USA - Georgia, December 1986
Remark
Photographer
75-0065 (cn 168/A145) A 2-ship formation of Eagles approaches Dobbins for a 29 landing on a cold December afternoon. The aircraft in the background, -056, is arriving for service with the 128th TFS, GA ANG, and neither has unit markings. A year later (Nov.24-87), 056 collided with an F-16 carrying NASCAR driver Bill Elliot on a "famil" flight. I actually saw the -16 come overhead with much of its rt. wing missing on return to a safe landing; 056 crashed in S. Georgia & pilot ejected...

USA - Air Force
General Dynamics FB-111A Aardvark
Birmingham - Shuttlesworth International (BHM / KBHM)
USA - Alabama, August 6, 1989
Remark
Photographer
67-0161 (cn B1-03) The matte and rough appearance of its camouflage paint belies the fact that this Aardvark carries the relatively new "Strategic Scheme". On static display for the 1989 Birmingham (Alabama ANG) air show, this plane came from the 380th Bomb. Wing at Plattsburgh AFB, NY. It featured the nose art "Liquidator" (a woman "reclining" in a martini glass).
