9/11 changed it. Now it's first point of entry that everyone clears unless fuel and go or mechanical. For instance at IAD before 9/11 Saudia and Ethiopian stopped first in JFK for SV and EWR for ET and the IAD pax stayed on. Also UA is using 4 digit flight numbers for their cargo only flights that start with 28XX. Normal Asian passenger UA flights are three digit starting with 8XX.

It is only a technical stop for fuel only. No traffic rights. And it is only used for the Westbound segment ADD-IAD as the eastbound segment flies back nonstop IAD-ADD.

As long as Delta doesn't sell their remaining 49% of the company the flight benefits should still remain. More would be understood once they officially announce the change. If they get rid of the benefits they will have the same issues struggling with high turnover just like every other ground hand...

Maybe the reason for the name change is to attract future contracts such as UA without having Delta in the name of the company? Having a contractor at a station serving United would look better if the company is called Unifi instead of Delta global services.

South African airways recently picked up 4 A350's second hand and could use more to have a more efficient fleet. Although their precarious financial situation doesn't help.

It was only half sold off, and employees that were hired before the sale keep S3C but now have to pay imputed taxes on their payroll for flights flown. New hires are a lower boarding priority S4, same as buddy passes. ZED fares on other carriers are no longer available.

SN 515 has operated to IAD with the Eurowings A330 quite a few times the last 2 or 3 months, I guess they just recently painted the new registration number on it. I can't recall the previous number. Or maybe there is more than one Eurowings A330 being switched over?

Nationals and quite a few others use DL who have a sub fleet of 757's for all their sports charters. All business class seating with some facing each other. Nationals fly under DL8895

UA's IAD-LHR daytime flight does well but is also uses smaller equipment with the 757. On a side route topic for DL daytime non traditional routes, I do remember years ago when DL had a daytime ATL-GRU flight. Didn't last too long

As far as future growth at Dulles at least during the popular 2-6pm European bank there is just no gate space available except for Hardstand R gate space. Any European flights would have to be on the second European bank of 7-10pm.

Also IAD was a good choice to divert too since they have a fresh crew at a hotel in case the diversion crew times out while waiting for the plane to be fixed. It might affect the departure of the regular TK flight tonight though if they are used.

TK has their own MX at IAD, although they work at night when the regular TK flight is here. I'm sure someone got a suprise wakeup call this morning. If a part is needed UA wouldn't be able to help too much since the TK aircraft is a A330.

As far as from a aircraft rotation aspect, sending planes to Brasil require a long ground time there due to favorable flight operating times for the airlines, so this is interesting regarding a limited 787 fleet size and dedicating it to those routes.

The Z gates are currently used only by Frontier (1-4 daily flights and Air Canada CRJ's (3 daily flights). It used to be used by Silver Airways when they had large ops out of IAD. MWAA should market those gates to a new carrier or convince some other airline with a small presence at IAD like JetBlu...

Redskins still use UA. Would be interesting to see if any additional teams switch to DL since they can fly on their growing fleet of fully configured sports charter 757-200's. They are used a lot in the winter for NHL and NBA charters as well as MLB in the summertime. Not used for mainline flights. ...

At IAD during the winter schedule Aeroflot only flies once a week on Mondays SVO-IAD. The plane turns right around to go back to SVO and the crew stays in Washington for 7 days. The summertime frequency jumps up to 3 days a week
