It was only half sold off, and employees that were hired before the sale keep S3C but now have to pay imputed taxes on their payroll for flights flown. New hires are a lower boarding priority S4, same as buddy passes. ZED fares on other carriers are no longer available.

Re: Why no direct MIA-IAD flight?

The long running AA IAD-MIA service that recently ceased primarily fed their huge Caribbean, Central American connections out of MIA. It was a 6am departure out of IAD and returned around 9pm so it connected perfectly to all those. In the later years they even had a second flight that left in the af...

As far as future growth at Dulles at least during the popular 2-6pm European bank there is just no gate space available except for Hardstand R gate space. Any European flights would have to be on the second European bank of 7-10pm.

It's interesting to see that Volaris is starting nonstop to SAL with continuing service to SJC this spring from IAD. Also IAD was a good choice to divert too since they have a fresh crew at a hotel in case the diversion crew times out while waiting for the plane to be fixed. It might affect the departure of the regular TK flight tonight though if they are used.
