Jump to postThanks. I saw that parking lot and was wondering. Depending on what is coming in, it might be a bit far away. But I'll take it.
Anything around the airport property?
Hi everyone,
I was hoping that someone could suggest places to spot planes at KAVL.
Thanks in advance,
Phil

Jump to postI wasn't able to confirm this with online tracking, so I hope it made the journey. Interested to see pics!
I'm curious, is the photo forum the correct place to put movement info? I wouldn't think to look for it here.
Of the folks that I know who use Lightroom, none use it exclusively. They all have some version of Photoshop for those moments when you need a feature, like Layers. Since you already have CS5, there's no problem. I would download the trial and check it out. The interface takes some getting used to.
Jump to postMy advice is the same as Colin's. I say you are fine with a point-and-shoot until you develop your skills enough to see for yourself what you are missing. PaS cameras have come a long way in recent years, and produce very high quality results.
Jump to postExcellent job, Vik, and I also echo your sentiments.
I want to say thank you for your recent advice on spotting locations. At least from my perspective, you are a great asset to airliners.net!
cheers,
Phil
Since receiving these rejections, along with the feedback of some other screeners and photographers, I have made some changes to my editing setup. My biggest frustration was not being able to see the 'grain/noise' that my photos were coming under scrutiny for, which left me in disbelief. I have swit...
Jump to postRegarding AF degradation, it's all about the light. You are taking the lens to a constant f/5.6 which is the minimum aperture required for AF operation.

Jump to postI've used the 1.4x II on the 70-200 f/4 in the past, but the fidelity seemed to really suffer. Remember you lose 1 f stop. Jump to postI know at least three photographers who shoot Canon and were disappointed with the noise level on the 50D compared with previous generations (two with the 40D and one with the 500D/T1i - same generation of sensor). Jump to postYou might have received an over-sharpened rejection from the edge of the engine (foreground) exhaust against the airplane. On my monitor it looks a little jagged. HTH.
Jump to postI am excited to see a new version of this lens, but if Canon's other lens revisions are any indicator, then I would not expect drastic changes with the refresh. In other words, no zoom or aperture changes.
