Copa has an extensive network through all of the Americas, including sixteen destinations in the Caribbean region (nineteen if you include CARICOM destination cities BZE, GEO, PBM). I am certain that HAV, PUJ, AUA have high demand, but am curious about the newer markets and those less-popular with L...Jump to post
Excellent news. I have always thought that the existing El Dorado is great and could be expanded even further. Also thought that the expense of "El Dorado II" would have been an overly expensive (and unnecessary) undertaking.Jump to post
Three crazy ones in my life: Back in 1997 I flew Comair/Delta Connection BOS-YYZ-CVG-MDW. CRJ-200s between BOS and YYZ and YYZ to CVG. An EMB-120 into MDW. Took all day and the agent at BOS thought I was insane. The worst was last year, December 2017, to get home for Christmas in Barbados (BGI) from...Jump to post
Actually, I always heard the MDE route was doing well - in terms of loads. Aeromexico (another SkyTeam member) is doing rather well and is now a daily 737-800 out of MDE. It just seems that DL is a petulant child that if things doing go exactly as they want, they pull out. They have pulled in and ou...Jump to post
Great report! You have thoroughly convinced me to visit Vietnam - one day! SQ really does seem to know how to do things "right"...Jump to post

I really wonder if BOG will ever be added to EK's network.
How many countries does CM have left in the Americas to fly to? Suriname and some of the smaller Caribbean islands are all I can think of. CM will need some more E190s if it intends to start doing SKB, DOM etc. Well, now that BGI has finally been announced, I would think other "good choices&qu...Jump to post
CM announces Bridgetown (BGI) from July! I could not be happier... have been waiting for this since 2006, when our government announced that CM would start flights to BGI "soon"...
Also, CM will start service to Fortaleza (FOR) and Salvador (SSA) that same month.
Spectacular! What a great thing to be able to travel back in time and read trip reports like this one... I remember Viasa well with its MD-80s coming to my home country Barbados with the CCS-POS-BGI flights... later we had CCS-PMV-BGI flights with Aeropostal using anything from the DC-9-10s up to th...Jump to post
Didn't BWIA fly long haul too, to the UK and Frankfurt I believe, from Trinidad? They had a few long haul aircraft too. When I worked with BW in the late 80s and early 90s, we had 4 L-1011-500 long-haul aircraft. We flew to LHR for years, but added FRA, MUC, CGN, ZRH, ARN in the early 90s. MAN came...Jump to post
That is great for Avianca, but all I care about is AV resuming the BOG-BGI flight!!! There has to be a some sort of a solution regarding the Venezuelan airspace restriction. Why not let Avianca Ecuador (Aerogal) do the route UIO-BOG-BGI just like they do with AUA and want to do with CUR? That way it...Jump to post
Just thought I would try my luck in getting an answer here... I heard that CM was in Barbados this month looking to finally start a PTY-BGI service. It has been discussed since 2006 and our government has had meetings in Panama most recently in 2011. Now that AV can no longer provide the BOG-BGI fli...Jump to post
Great report! Now, you have me interested in visiting...Jump to post
As of the last annual report, AV mentioned the following North American cities as potential destinations (to be served from either the Salvador or Bogotá hub): Atlanta, Denver, Guadalajara, Las Vegas, Monterrey, Montreal, Port of Spain, Saint Martin, and Vancouver. Boston was also on the list, but ...Jump to post
Every so often I post the same question: when will CM finally start a PTY-BGI (Barbados) service? There have been many meetings between CM and the Gov't of Barbados over the years and the same news is always reported: CM to start BGI service "soon". In fact, it was first announced in 2006....Jump to post
Is there any news if CM will resume its PTY-SXM flights?Jump to post
I wonder if, sadly, airlines will pull out of SXM. I imagine the hotel infrastructure will take quite a while to get up to what it was pre-Irma. If CM pulls out, for example, I would like to think they would FINALLY see BGI as a viable option... With both GOL and AV failing will CM reall...Jump to post
Fascinating! What a great report!Jump to post
I am nearly begging for information. Hopefully someone on this thread may be an "insider". What is going to happen with the AV BOG-BGI service? Yes, yes, yes. I know. It was "indefinitely suspended" due to problems with overflying Venezuelan airpspace. However, are any steps bein...Jump to post
Just another question, for how long will Colombian registered aircraft be banned from using Venezuelan air space? Flights from Spain to Colombia I still see them bypassing Venezuelan air space now. A388 They are not banned. Avianca are welcome to use Venezuelan airspace tonight, should they wish to...Jump to post
I remember when Copa was announcing new destinations nearly every six months. Has the expansion stopped? What will they do with all that space when the new terminal opens? Will CM ever start a service to Barbados from PTY? It was "confirmed" back in 2006. And 2011. And 2012. And 2015.Jump to post
Just announced that Avianca will suspend all flights to and from Venezuela effective August 16, 2017. AV currently operates BOG-CCS-BOG twice daily and LIM-CCS-LIM once daily. AV states that it is a result of the need for Venezuela to improve various processes to international standards, improve the...Jump to post

Still a ton of mid size destinations left for them to link into their system. PBM, MID, BGI, SAT, AUS all come to mind I've been waiting since 2006* for CM to start a BGI service... I am not holding my breath any longer. AV does BOG-BGI 2x week since December 2015 and seems to be doing just fine - ...Jump to post

I am a huge aviation geek, but I am not a pilot. Yes, all of us geeks recognise that the photo and video made it look look like the plane was lower than normal compared to the hundreds of other photos and videos we have seen. I do not know what the pilots were doing on WestJet 2652 and would never m...Jump to post
'I am Colombian, and I have to say this is shameful and embarrassing. That is why we will never get rid of the 'drug dealer' stigma we carry wherever we go Also, it reflects poorly on BOG's security procedures. Hope they catch whoever did this I was thinking the same thing - it is an embarrassment ...Jump to post
I would imagine that the CM TPA-PTY flight is more than sufficient to cover the Latin American market out of TPA. Plus, AA's huge Latin American network is available out of MIA - a 45 minute flight from TPA.
So, LIM and BOG are pretty well served already!
After the official decision a few years back that Avianca-Taca would assume the name Avianca, the combined fleets (including AeroGal which has been re-branded Avianca Ecuador) and Avianca Brasil have sloooowly been repainted to the new livery... As far as I can see, it appears that a majority of the...Jump to post
