Southwest has added a daily nonstop between STL and PVD. It starts on 7/26 and right now shows ending 8/10. Interesting add with such little notice and for only two weeks.

AA ran PVD-DFW from November 2003 through March 2006. The total load factor for that period was 80% which was higher than both BDL (78%) and BOS (75%). Summer loads were Around 85% most months. Loads don’t equal profits but it’s at least interesting data.

I think there's a chance of BOS coming back to AV's network once they sort our their financial issues. From January/2018 to August/2018, when they did 4x flights to BOS, they had an average LF of 87,5%. Not spectacular, but not that bad imo. They even increased to daily flights from September/2018 ...

NK’s BOS-RDU load factor for the year ending October 2019 was 79%. F9’s was 82%. Both seem decent so I’m guessing with the added competition, it wasn’t worth keeping for NK.

The numbers and logic often point to obvious opportunities for MHT and PVD but the airlines have clearly decided to place their eggs in the BOS basket. The rich keep getting richer it seems.

The PHL-BOS flight leaves before most other F9 arrivals except ATL and LAS.

Wonder if F9 looks at PHL-PVD given the local average fare is almost twice that of BOS!

It appears NK also cut JAX-ORD leaving JAX-BWI as it’s only JAX route. It appears both NK and F9 are planning to maintain just a token presence in JAX. Hoping AA decides to make a bit of a strategic move at PVD by adding MIA and DFW. By offering a more robust route portfolio they could keep a percentage of area passengers from driving to BOS and getting on other carriers.

My opinion is that WN swung the pendulum much too far with their BOS strategy. PVD and MHT were large, captive, and loyal WN markets from an origin perspective. They claimed to have entered BOS from a destination standpoint as their other strongholds across the country wanted access to BOS directly....

Meanwhile PVD sees only 2 daily nonstops on B6 (1 each to FLL and PBI) with weekend only FLL on WN to South Florida in the summer. I know it’s off season but feel this is underserved.

F9 did MIA-PVD but came in with daily service. Loads were decent but fares seemed low. This winter, they are in BOS and BDL but less than daily each. This is a pattern I think PVD can support. 2-3 weekly off season with 3-4 winter.

When F9 extends their schedule, they exclusively sell discount den fares for a few weeks. If a route doesn’t have discount den fares it won’t show up. Why some routes don’t have any, I don’t know... PVD had the same issue. Too much new capacity in too short of a time versus a steady buildup where the market could absorb the new seats.
