I could see UA starting SFO-SGN or VN starting LAX-SGN and LAX-HAN just to start.

Years ago it was expansion into the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China).

What about MINT (Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey) right now? I could see more services into MEX, IST (with new airport), CGK and LOS.

Sometimes you need to take 2 steps backwards before you can take 10 steps forward. While closing the line will hurt in the short term, in the long run it'll be better for Airbus. They can now focus their attention on the A350, a MOM jet to compete with Boeing and the A320NEO.
