I would also go the daytime flight out of LHR since you can get a good 6 hours sleep on this towards the end of the flight, followed by another chunk from BKK on to SYD. Agree with evening arrival - for me, it lets my body adjust as I can go right to bed and feel good the next morning. A 6am arrival...
