Re: UA Acquisition of Pan Am's LHR Slots - Operations

Yup, I recall. I remember flying with United for the first time out of EWR in 2000 in 7th grade and was shocked at the operation they had in A-1. I had no idea they took up the whole wing. Back then UA even had EWR featured as a terminal diagram in Hemispheres Magazine too. I meant to say amongst t...

Re: UA Acquisition of Pan Am's LHR Slots - Operations

I don't think PA ever operated EWR-LHR but somehow UA got the rights to operate it when the routes were sold off during their liquidation. It was also around the same time when UA announced EWR-NRT which lasted until 1995-1996 as a non-stop. That said, UA's EWR-LHR was the among the first 777 route...

I think UA should return to JFK once the 737 MAX 10 are delivered. Since UA has 100 737 MAX 10s on order with 50 of them being in Polaris-configuration that will replace both the 752 on the transcon UA could fly them out from SFO/LAX-JFK/EWR/BOS leaving the A321XLR to do the international 752´s job...

Allow checking baggage for no fee. This stops the Baggage-Bin Ballet, and keeps people from boarding with steamer trunk-size “carry-ons” that don’t fit in the bins no matter how hard they push. Even boarding back to front you still end up with bunching up in the same locations. Instead of a logjam at rows 7,8 and 9 you end up with a logjam at rows 30,31 and 32 and passengers still need to crawl over eachother or step out into the aisle to allow another pax in the row. For the big 3 airlines(AA, DL, UA) it seems a no brainer: after boarding priority/first class passengers, reverse the boarding order. “Group 1” should be the rear third of the aircraft. Group 2 the mid section, and Group 3 the area of the fuselage behind first class(or behind the comfort/2nd class)...
