Re: Cleveland Aviation Thread - 2019

D can easily tale larger aircraft Easy by what measure? The gates are way too close together to take anything but RJ’s. So you’re only going to use half of them ? That's exactly what you do and exactly how it was designed. That's why the gates are in groups of two instead of spread out. If 737/A320...

Imagine you’re a station manager in CLE. Why would you ever want to move to D? At least not without significant investment in a tunnel, which CLE was already cheap about the first time around, now it’d be a heck of a lot more. D is a white elephant. Re: Cleveland Aviation Thread - 2019

One reason why WN pulled out of CAK is that CLE was served by WN prior to the WN-FL merger, whereas WN inherited CAK through the WN-FL merger. CAK-ATL was also the only remaining WN nonstop route out of CAK at the time of WN's pullout of CAK, and WN moved CAK-ATL over to CLE after WN's pullout of C...

More likely an ATC issue. Airlines will change the flight number to a 9000 number for ATC to avoid confusion if a similar or same flight number exists at another airline at a similar time.

A couple of interesting diversions today - from London and Madrid. It looks as if NYC was sending planes all over the northeast (viewed broadly). LHR was on a 767-400 (one of my favorite aircraft!) and MAD was on a 777-300 (perhaps the first one at CLE?). First US 77W but AC diverted one in here ab...

I work at MKE for Delta and a few months ago we got 220 parking marking painted at the delta gates so maybe a MKE 220 route is possible in the future. CLE has them too, but also has 767, 777, A330, and (still) 747 and DC-9 markings. None of those are coming to CLE any time soon so I think it's just...

A friend in the pilot union confirms they are demo'ing the A220. It is more of a concern that an AD on the 737 could ground the entire airline overnight. S19 v S18 will see slight ASM growth but departure count down from 22 to 21. As mentioned 1 LAS swapped for 1 DEN, 1 MDW swapped to STL, 1 MDW dropped. Longer stage lengths to STL and DEN, by my rough calculations, show about a 2% increase in ASM despite the lower departure count.
