Yes, I think so, and The reasons have been stated above. I totally agree with Superfly. The US is an empire, and throughout history, all great empires have fallen. Why get rid of the procedures if the beacons are not being decommissioned? If it's not broke, don't fix it. As far as I'm concerned, every little bit of redundancy helps, especially when you REALLY need it. Simple. It saves the already cash strapped FAA millions to do this. They are however l...

Basically a lack of business coupled with high mx costs finally put them out. The mechanics there said the L-188's were hangar queens, and they have rather poor fuel economy. With the downturn in the auto industry, there was just not enough business to keep them afloat. I am surprised they made it t...
Jump to postBennett123, only 2 or 3 L-188's were still airworthy. About 10-15 others are not; most don't have engines and have been parked for years. From what I have heard, they will be cut up for scrap on site.

Jump to postRed is on the left wingtip, Green is on the right wingtip, and there is a white light on the tail. Same for ships, just no wingtips. Red = port and green = starboard. Jump to postIt is an FAA requirement to have NAVlights on at night, meaning the red, green, and white light (on the tail) MUST be on at night. No exceptions.
It applies to everything from Cessna 152's to 747's.
