Are airlines permitted to perform maintenance on their 737 Max 8s during their grounding, or are they somehow quarantined? Seems like a perfect time to get some of that work done. They are required to perform maintenance. The aircraft most likely went into Short Term Storage which require scheduled...

I was in Amarillo on business in '97-'98 overseeing our planes being painted when FedEx started pulling the AA DC-10s out of storage there to start the MD-10 project. You start with the lighter color, in this case the red and spray it. Then you spray the next darker color, in this case the blue and mist the blue into the red and the keep working darker

I'm just bummed that American dropped the Saturday Non Stop to Cancun... We took that flight all the time. Take off at 0700, land at 1030, at the resort by noon... fly home non-stop at 2p. It was AWESOME..!! I also didn't see the Delta Saturday Non-Stop, and Southwest has not released their late fal...

You don’t just snap your fingers and pull them out of storage. It would take a month plus per aircraft to get it operational..plus all of the scheduled maintenance and time controlled items

Interesting as their own website seat maps when we picked seats showed and sold them as 1st Class Seats and we booked that way. I guess we'll find out No, you just did not pay attention enough. It looks like AA381 took off on time at 0700, looped the airport twice then returned to land. It took off again about 1000.... Looks like they used the same aircraft, so it was not too serious.

There are Service Bulletins to modify both ways. I've been involved in both. Not too bad. Lots of structures work, hydraulics and a little electrical.

It may have come from the Parts Pool too. Anyway, it can and does happen. Often there is no time to paint the correct livery color, or it's only temp installed.
