Jump to postHey, I like Eye on America!
I consider IFE availability when booking a flight. Its not the only thing, but I do consider it.
I have become more sympathetic to this concept as product quality has declined. Not that the traveling public didn't ask for it. Maybe the exotic nature of some carriers would wake up the public's interest in paying a little more to get more. Of course, some of these carriers could just use low wage...

Jump to postWhy can't the airlines offer a premium coach product priced $30-100 each way above the applicable lowest economy fare that offers: 34-36" pitch hot meals pillows and blankets and a little attention (similar to coach a la 1979) ??? That would restore some of the glamor. But more important give the no...
Jump to postIsn't the belly compartment the location planned for some of the ammenities? They can't cube out on cargo because of weight and balance issues, and you can't seat people down there for take off and landing so it is availble for non-revenue feature space. Kind of like the lower galleys of the DC10s a...

Jump to postIt is still amazing that for a lot of people, the thought of doing anything besides driving on government-built roads won't even occur to them unless the trip is more than 1,000 miles.
The exterior shot looked like a 757 to me. Remember the run a way beverage cart? It hit a wall, not the a rear stair exit at the back of the cabin. So if it was a real plane, it wasn't a 727. Notice the Hawaiian Airlines billboard in the "frozen" north? That crash scene looks like a pic from the Avi...

Jump to postThe rope or strap is probably more of a deterrent to coach passengers using premium class facilities anyway. Jump to postDedicated Southwest fliers tend to like open seating. Others generally don't.
I like assigned seats. Especially with the seat maps now available on line. My grandmother likes open seating. Because her eyesight makes it difficult for her to see the seat numbers.
White Nights (late 1980s) A "British Orient Bus 100" (obviously a 747-200) enroute from North America to Tokyo(?) encounters some sort of mechanical problem and is forced to make an emergency landing at a russian air strip that is too short. Jump to postSadly in the minority here, but I always wear at least slacks and usually a neck tie. Slip on/slip off shoes are a must for security check points.
This isn't 1950. Today's nice clothes don't have to be uncomfortable.
And I feel BETTER for having dressed better.
The single seat side of the ERJ seemed acceptable. My only flight on a CRJ was one that was nearly full. I was seated next to a good sized dude and it was pretty tight. American Eagle's leather creates an illusion of luxury.
Jump to postI prefer to fly full service carriers, but frankly the two times I have flown Southwest their clientele was dressed better than the average coach passenger on the majors.
These were weekday flights in business markets.
There isn't a thing wrong and a whole lot right with inputing the quality of inflight service into the flight decision.
