Re: Monarch Airlines ceases operations, thousands stranded

Gutted! My favourite airline gone. At least I got to fly with them one last time in November and spot them one last time a month or so ago.

:(

My thoughts go to all the staff and stranded pax.

I've long considered what the alternative will be to jets once fossil fuel burning is banned. I think that'll come faster than self piloting vehicles.

The best I can do so far is prop aircraft moved by electric motors powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Sounds pretty slow, huh?

Turbulence. Flew ZB BHX - FNC the other week, turbulence all the way up to cruise and I felt awful for the whole ascent plus about half an hour. I remember my first flight on a UA 747 back in something like 1992. Lots of turbulence and felt awful then too, then a connection from LAX to MCO (Disneywo...

There seems to be a trend away from narrow body cargo jets these days. All that reman are old designs that will eventually be phased out, like the 727,757, DC8. New cargo aircraft all seem to be wide bodies, like the A330F, 777F etc. Can anyone tell me why no-one has made a new freighter of a narrow...
