Re: Cruise Ship/Ocean Liner Thread -2022

Earlier this year I had a very special cruise experience: Quarantine, confined to the cabin/balcony due to Covid-19 from the evening of the first to the very last day on a Norway cruise on Board QM2. Excellent food and wonderful views, but I couldn't leave the cabin for 8 days. What was sad when bei...

USAF C-17 low pass over Frankfurt City

A USAF C-17 (O2-1111) just passed low over my house in Central Frankfurt. I can't remember seeing that since after 9/11, and its years ago that saw a jet as a large as a C-17 flying over the center of the city. Re: Eastern Airlines Adds JFK-ANC/UIO With 777-200ER + MIA-UIO, PHL-MEX

Whats the status with their 777 plan? Are any scheduled to be used for pax? The one painted last year seems to be dormant for more than 12 months now. Any word when the first "freighter" is due? To remove galleys and toilets can't be such a difficult job to explain the apparent lack of pro...

Besides the racoon eyes not the most exciting livery. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ev33mMzWgAAxYQz?format=jpg&name=medium https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ev33mMzWgAAxYQz?format=jpg&name=large Not exciting, I agree. But it was dictated by the client to use titles and logo on white only. He didn't...

The very last-built 777-200 (non-ER) has been retired after less than 15 years of service. It will be parted-out at MHV: 777-246 JA773J ln.635, built 2007 https://www.skyliner-aviation.de/regdb.main?LC=nav4&page=4 Of note: JA773J carried the "Tokio 2020" special livery. It was quite an...

Whats the status of the stored PW-powered 777 fleet? Some of them haven't flown in almost two years. Seems UA can do rather well without these oldies.

    Re: 777 Retirement/Scrapping Thread - 2021

Most of the ANA 77W must have low cycles and high hours. I flew on all of the retired birds as recent as late 2019 - early 2020 when Corona started. My flights were about monthly from Washington Dulles to Tokyo vv. or Chicago to Tokyo vv. always in business class. All flights were typical 12+ hours...

    United's A320, 757, and 767 are getting pretty old, on average. (type, number, age) - Airbus A320 96 22.9 years - Boeing 757 72 23 years - Boeing 767 54 23.8 years While 777s and A319 fleets aren't getting any younger either - Airbus A319 66 19.5 years - Boeing 777 95 17.8 years (incl young 77W's) ...

    Re: 777 Retirement/Scrapping Thread - 2021

Is there a comprehensive list of all 777-300ERs set to be scrapped? 4 - Singapore airlines 13 - ANA 10 - Jet Airways ? any others? I guess some early-built Etihad 77Ws won't fly anywhere else than to the scrappers yard soon. I know some SQ airframes have been retired and they are of the same age as...

Are most of the retired 777s still stored at FCO? How many were owned by Alitalia, how many leased?

The A320 EI-DTE just flew to OSR to receive the brand new ITA Airways livery.

Expected timing to get the paint job done is Dec 20th.

I wonder if the base color will be metallic "azzurro", or plain paint.
