Re: United Airlines posts $2.1 billion pretax loss as coronavirus roils business, seeks more federal aid

Management is a meritocracy. They can just leave to maintain or improve their salary. They are not locked in by seniority. Management doesn’t have to share any sacrifice. Management isn’t going to have labor councils running the airline .. they are just going to lay you off .. bye bye

Re: British Airways DC-10 in early 1980s?

I would be pretty amazed if BA pilots flew the plane. Doesn’t make much sense to do typeratings for one route, not to mention I can’t imagine any pilots volunteering to literally fly to the same city four times a month for years. Let’s get serious. The word you’re looking for is CODESHARE. CODESHAR...

Re: Coronavirus Aviation Related News & Discussion Thread - March 2020

It is forward bookings for mid-March and beyond that are making airline execs nervous. There isn’t a panic, which would mean current operations would be low load factors. However, businesses and families have just decided to hold off on future plans until they see where this goes. Forward booking cu...

Re: Flight attendants and configurations

An airline’s certification for its aircraft may require more F/A than 1:50 ratio. It is likely United’s widebody 787-9 requires a minimum of 6 F/A or even 7 at floor-level exits for FAA approval. Therefore the configuration isn’t as important as is keeping an A320 at 150.

No, BA will still operate two, one with the 744 and another with the A380. AA will operate 4 daily 788's and UA will offer 3 daily 763's. All in all, there will be 8 daily flights from Chicago to London, 7 to LHR and one to LGW. That's quite a lot if you ask me. Not too long ago, 10 to 15years or s...
